Update 10/21/2016:  I made it home safe and sound after driving 3023 miles!  It was a grand adventure.  Read all about the trip on pages A through D on the right sidebar.

6-State Road Trip

Start Date:  September 25, 2016

End Date:  October 20, 2016

I'm busy preparing to hit the road on a 4-week, 3000-mile journey through 6 of the western states.

Above is a snapshot of the circle route I'm taking, heading eastward from my home in Grants Pass, Oregon.  My stops include these locations:

Burns, OR
Boise, ID
Pocatello, ID
Cody, WY
Hardin, MT
Malta, MT
Kalispell, MT
Ritzville, WA via Coeur d'Alene, ID
Pt. Ludlow, WA
Whidbey Island, WA
La Conner, WA
Coupeville, WA
Lacey, WA
Gresham, OR (Portland)
Heading Home

I'll be stopping at 2 National Parks (Yellowstone, Little Bighorn), several national historic sites including Shoshone Falls (which are higher than Niagara Falls), museums, and historic homes, along with visits with many friends and family.  It will require boarding 2 different car ferries to circumnavigate the islands in Washington.  I'll also be teaching some quilt classes in Malta, Montana, the site of the best preserved dinosaur find in the US.

I will be posting my thoughts and images here during my trip, hopefully daily.  So come along with me and enjoy a ride through a special part of America.
